This Week's Update

We launched this website on Monday as a place where we can post weekly updates, project deliverables, and other interesting content related to targeted advertising. Please subscribe to our blog if you haven't already.

In addition, we created a Twitter account (@AdvertResearch) to post quick updates and link to articles on targeted advertising.

We completed our elevator pitch on targeted advertising yesterday.

Last Week's Recap

We submitted a project proposal to explain the technology we want to unpack. We originally planned to research online advertising in general but after some preliminary research, we found that it would be better to narrow our scope to one form of online advertising.

Team Adbusters decided to focus on targeted advertising because we are most interested in this form of online advertising. As social media users, we are curious of how our online interactions and activities are turned into money-making data. We are drawn by the privacy and ethics implications. How do companies make sense of data generated from multiple sources (Internet history, location, demographics) and target ads to the right consumers?
